How it began.
Plants with Purpose originally began back in 2001. Margaret Lear, a lecturer and author of horticulture started to sell some herbs from her forest garden in Bankfoot. The range of plants grew to include all the 'plants with purpose' she could find and included edible perennials, many of which are so called 'weeds' and garden plants she found to be tasty and nutritious. Wildflowers were then added, noted for their benefits to wildlife.
Margaret retired in 2019 when her husband Andrew Lear (Appletreeman) briefly took on the business before then handing the reins over to myself Sarah Walkington. Plants with Purpose is now based in Stanley close to Perth at Harvest Brae Farm. I continue to grow as many of the eclectic collection of plants that Margaret grew while adding new plants that I believe worthy of joining the Plants with Purpose family.
